Jai Ganesh Jeeturaj, I heard you asking people on which day's do people do Ganpati Visarjan, well according to me They are Dedh Din ke, Paanch Din Ke, Gauri Ganpati (this happens on either the fifth, sixth, or seventh day depending on the tithis or the gregorian calender as we call it) and then the Gyarah Din Ke Ganpati, but people vary their visarjan days according to their own convenience. in my area there are a few housholds that have ganpati visarjan on the TWENTY FIRST DAY!! Just imagine na pure Ikkis Din Majje!!!!Jai Ganesh!!!!

hey hi jeetu raj ! I am back from pune, back to mumbai at home. It's lovely to be back home. Btw i was not able to tell you in detail about the Ganesh Festival at my native place malvan. I will soon write about in detail on your blog say within a day or two. It's sad that i missed it this year due to the accident, but still if physically i am not there mentally i am completely with the ganesh festival celebrations at my native place. Hi! Jeeturaj, How r u? Vans here. Firstly, I wuld like to reply to Sunil Mandke's blog. he wantd some ideas for his next year's decoration & V had done the same kind of decoration dat he wants & believe me peolpe have just loved the decoration. Not only dat, people refered other people to visit our place to see the decoration. So, You can pass on my no. 9820884179 to him & I can give him suggestions. I will post the photos later. Jeeturaj, inspite of you talking so much abt Eco friendly ganesha, yesterday when v went for Visarjan, it was a very bad & shameful exp at Juhu. Firstly, there was low tide due to which the water level was very much inside & all the idols of Lord Ganesha was cuming out of the water again under our legs. V were feeling so sinful, becoz v went in the waters to play & enjoy, & the Ganesh idols which were made of plaster of paris were not at all dissolved & were cuming back at the surface of the sea below our feet. One side v worship this idol when he comes home & after the visarjan, v kick him & paly football with him (though unintentionally). Please mumbaikars, understand the seriousness of this, which is in turn affecting our own Mumbai as well. Atlest for our mumbai's sake atlest see that next year we all bring Eco friendly ganesha which dissolves easily in waters in turn we will not be sinned as well we r keeping our mumbai away from pollution as well. Also one more request, there r big containers kept at Juhu to put your others thiings of puja, garlands ect. So please don't throw all des things in waters. my son now 12yrs...whn he was 2 yrs was playing in my society compound...whn he came up he was carrying a black stone with him...my wife told him to throw away..but he replied..no its ganpati bapa....and he insisted v keep this in our puja place....v did...n all worship it...its in the shape of lord ganesha...will send u the photo on face bk.....its very small...n really looks likes lord ganesha...9833522774

hii.....i listen to u everyday on my way to college......ur doing a great job really good.....ganpati is one god whom we like to see in different variety......my most favorite is an idol where the ganpati is wearing specks n is reading a book resting on a pillow.....its sooo cute......i also like the song from the muvie VIRUDDH-shree ganeshay dhreemahi...its realli good and im teaching bharatnatyam on this song to the 3rd standard kids in a municipality school as a ganesh vandana.....its a really good song

hi jeeturaaj. ur blog reminded me of anothr jeeturaaj.some years ago, 10-12 yrs ago, thr ws a jeeturaaj on Times FM. i ws a huge fan of his.& like u he ws also a Ganesh bhakt. bt theres a ganesh story associated wth him. u see, i once got a table clock from smone which had a Ganpati on it. & the moment i saw it i said to myslf this ones for jeeturaaj. bt unfortunately Times fm went off the air & so did JR. since thn i am waiting for him in the hope he willl be back & i cn give him the clock. the clocks stl in my shelf waiting for him. i dont know if i'll ever meet him. smday if the Lord wills it... bt u know wot u share his name & u r a ganesh bhkt 2. so maybe i shd jus giv it 2 u...wot say?actually u r my only hope nw. 9833608697

we have been having this festival for the past 59 years. This is the 60th year. It is supposed to be a God who showers his blessings on his devotees. There have been occassions when devotees who have come to our residence from far off places to take his blessings. Till now around 250 varieties of jewellery, in gold and silver have been offered by devotees, whose wishes have been fulfilled. This is done at our residence at Andheri.

Jai Ganesh, Jeeturaj, Vaibhav here, we talked on Friday 14th Aug. We celebrate the Ganeshutsav every year. I am from Nagpur, but doing job in Mumbai, so I am a Mumbaikar as well. Anyways, this year, I am going home for Ganeshutsav after 3 years. From the past 3 years, I could not go because of some reasons or the others. This year, I will pray Lord Ganesha to shower his blessings on the country. We are going through a bad phase of all time. First, economic slowdown, then less rainfall and now Swine Flu. But I am sure, Ganesha will take us out from thses problems and shower his blessings on us. Jai Ganesh

Hi! Jeeturaaj,, myself Vandana from Santacruz. I wanna share with you the preparations that we are doing for our Ganesh idol this year. This year we are bringing the idol of Lord Ganesha in the form of Lord Krishna with a cow next to it. So we are making a real garden by growing grass all around it, by making mountains using plaster of paris, waterfall & trees around it. Hi, Jeeturaaj, Me Maya (Damayanti) In the year 1995 Aug. my brother injured by Train accident at Central Matunga, while going to his college. It was shocking incedent, he was sereious at that time. we are 5 sisters and only single brother. but that was Ganpati festival time. I was not able to talk & react. I thought " sagla sampla!!!" tevha me Mazya aju-bajula Aath(8) Ganpatincha darshan ghetla, Total Maun (konashihi Na Bolta) aani ghari aale, Next morning my brother opened his eyes. In short let me tell some thing to you about my sketches and my collection. I started at the age 4 and done many sketches during my school and college which i have not retained, then in a particular time i started doing through my imagination of lord ganesh jii sketches in different and various forms with normal pencil and started lamination of all my sketches, till today i have done around 450nos with pencil and sketch pens, slowly i started doing in colour as well as glass. During last ganesh festival i am able to display some of my collection in around mumbai. I have not used eraser at all in all my sketches. The Broken Ganesh Tusk Several legends explain how Ganesh broke his right tusk, which gives him the name of Ekadanta "The Lord who has only one tusk". The first legend (in the Brahmanda-Purana) is related to a battle between Ganesh and Parashur�ma. Parashurama was one of the Vishnu incarnations (avatara), born on earth to teach wisdom to the governing class, the Kshatriya , who had become arrogant and oppressed people. Parashurama meditated on Shiva and got the divine axe, Parashu. This axe helped him to fight against all the corrupted princes, inspired by devils. Deeply grateful to Shiva, he went to Mount Kailash to bow to his guru. But Ganesh, who was guarding the entrance of the palace, did not allow him to proceed. Ganesh told him to wait for the Shiva permission. Parashur�ma thought : "I am a Shiva devotee, such a rule cannot be applied to me". Ganesh persisting to bar the way, Parashurama, usually peppery, stroke violently the Ganesh tusk with his axe and broke it. Then Shiva and Parvati arrived and blamed Parashur�ma who bowed down before Ganesh and supplicated to obtain his forgiveness and blessing. Then Ganesh was named Ekadanta "The Lord with one tusk". According to another legend, Ganesh broke himself his tusk during the battle against Gajamukh�sura (the elephant-headed Asura ). Taking the advice of Shukracharya, the Asura guru, this demon followed severe penances. Thus, he got unconquerable powers from Shiva. But he misused those powers to harass the gods who went to Ganesh and requested his help. Ganesh did not hesitate to give battle to this demon. During the fight, he understood that the demon could not defeated, because of his particular powers. Then, Ganesh broke his right tusk and threw it to Gajamukh�sura. He pursued him and converted him in a mouse. Then he rode this mouse, which he used as a mount, keeping it under control. According to another Purana story, the Ganesh rat was actually the Gandharva Krauncha. One day, at the Indra Court, Krauncha insulted the Sage V�madeva who revenged himself, making him a big rat. This rat, as all the rats do, went in the ashram of the Sage Par�chara and caused a lot of damages in the house. The Rishi invoked Vinayaka (an other name for Ganesh) to safeguard his modest dwelling. Ganesh appeared, rode the rat as his vehicle and mastered it. A Purana legend imputes the loss of the tusk to a fight between Ganesh and Shiva himself. Finally, there is the story between Ganesh and the Moon narrated above. Whatever the version of these puranic stories, Ganesh chose the rat as a vehicle for an obvious reason : this animal is really a detrimental one and Ganesh was able to keep it under his strict control. Hi Jeeturaaj, Legend Story of Lord Ganesha The mythological basis of the celebration is found in the Puranas. Parvati, while taking a bath, wanted somebody to guard from outside. She got the idea of making an idol out of the dirt that came from her body. She placed the idol outside. The idol did not even let her husband enter. Shankar became furious and instantly severed the head of the idol. Parvati finished her bath and came out. She explained to her husband the reason for placing the idol before the door. The idol was her creation. In fact the idol was her son ("manas putra"), and consequently also Shankar's son. Shankar felt sorry for what he had done. His servant Gan was standing nearby. Shankar ordered him to go and bring the head of the first living being he would meet. The servant saw an elephant, and he at once cut his head and took it to Shankar. Shankar joined the elephant's head to the body of Parvati's son. "Gaj" means elephant and "anan" means head, so Parvati's son became known as "Gajanan". hi jeeturaaj. ur blog remnded me of my 1 st visit 2 siddhivinyak.tht ws sm 6 yrs ago. uc i used 2 pass by sidhiiv. 4 almost 2 yrs bt nvr stepped in. thn once a couple of colleagues & i were 2 go 2 visit another coll bt as luck wd hv it one d coll became unwell so the other coll said i'm planning 2 go 2 siddhivinayak wd u like 2 come along. i jumped at the offer. it ws like d lord himslf had given me d oppor. so ths how i visited siddhivinayak the 1st time. & wot i rem d most of tht visit ws d moment whn my coll explained 2 me abt d 'mushak' in2 whose ears v had 2 whisper our wishes, i burst out laughin. i mean i found d whole idea of whisperin in2 a mouse's ears so funny tht i cdnt help lafng. thn of c i ws worried i had offended d lord bt i'm sure d lord is 4givng enuf.& snce thn i hv bn only 1 more time wth d same coll. mayb some day....

Hi Heeturaj, You r very gud RJ,i listen to u only for sometime but i really like the way you put up the show and the boldness to present the wrong things happening in the society and the greatest part that you are doing for the cancer children great dear keep it up,even i am like you i am never afraid to speak up for the right things and fight against the wrond things,anyways i m here to say about thewrong happenings in the name of the festivals taking place in our society,fetivals use to happen years back also but not like the present once for eg. Dahi Handi and the Ganesh festival or Diwali especially all our hindu festivals it is really very bad to say that in the name of the God and the festival now-a-days all nusaince happening,there are road blocks and diversions ,noise pollution of sound like DJ's music and the most of all the craker's burnt,how can one stop this, but atleast consider as there people who are sick,old,small babies in and around us who and cannot bear all this,so Jeeturaj is there anyway we can bring the awarness to the people by any means,if so then will be really greatful & nice,hope you will reply to my mail. Dear Jeeturaaj My name is Rajan Ramakrishnan from Dombilvli west, working in a private firm in mumbai. I happen to listen today morning 29/07/2009 about your blog - jaiii mangal moortee saath. I want to share something which i am doing quite some time - Lord Ganesh jii Sketches with normal pencil and sketch pen. Hi this is Teju here......I love this fest very much.Actully we people dont have any gharguti ganpati....but my Colony's ganpati is very lucky for me.....though its of only 5 days.....but every time i pray to bappa that to make this 5 days into some more additional hours.....I have some bond with ma bappa...every year i make a single wish to him....and he fulfill that..and the lovlyyest thing is when it cums d visargan time at 5th day ,god knws i alwayz lik 2 sit nex to bappa in tempo. and i share each of ma mistaks ma feeelngs with him that time........this year also I m waiting 4 him badly....enywayz dats enough for here...hehehehe... you too have a gr8 festival....ganapati baappa morya!!!!!

Hi, At present i am frustrated that i was not allowed to vote. Why ? becouse some stupid officer at the tehsildars office never submitted my name in the electoral voting list . I beeing a Resident of the Republic of India feel that my paid Tax to run the working of the Country is going in wrong hands, as the officers at our Government offices are those schedule cast people who dont want to work, they just want to relax and take their salary at the end of the month from our hard earned paid tax amount. Allthough the ganesha aarti has been used in lots hindi films like Vaastav, Virrudh, My Friend Ganesha And Many More but the origin of the aarti is not through films. I couldn't find who actually has written these songs but yes one thing I came to know while research that you would akso like to know is Ajit Kadkade is a popular vocalist who has sung lots of Ganesha Aarti's and Marathi Songs, I don't know the songs were written by himself or not along with Lata Didi. So Next Time You Speak To Lata Didi don�t forget to ask her who had written these songs, I am sure she would know

The reason behind this is to cleanse the negativity around us and help us to enter a new home or partake in any venture with the Lord�s blessings and guidance. Mantras are also printed on wedding cards, invites for a child�s naming ceremony and thread ceremony. There is always a reason behind this-to seek blessings so that His Grace always guides us in our daily life. The following mantra of Lord Ganesh is resonated everywhere and many people repeat it without clear understanding. The reason to know the meanings behind every mantra and its pronunciation is vital because it explains why we are doing it and this clarity helps in uplifting us with a little more devotion. Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee Sama Prabha Nirvighnam kuru mey Deva Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa Vakratunda - curved trunk (This form of Lord Ganesh is where He is depicted as standing, unlike His other Mudras (postures) where He is usually seated.) Mahakaaya - Large bodied Surya kotee - Millions of sun Sama Prabha- With the brilliance of Nirvighnam - Free of obstacles Kuru- Make mey- My Deva - Lord Sarva Kaaryeshu- In all work/pursuits Sarvada - Always It Means: O Lord Ganesh, who has a curved trunk and a large body, whose brilliance is as bright and luminous like millions of sun. My Lord remove/free all the obstacles/ hindrances that come in the path of all my pursuits, always. The Significance Of Performing Aarti Aarti is always performed at the end of the Puja. It means that whatever mistakes that has been done knowingly and unknowingly while doing the rituals, this is the way we ask for forgiveness. In the process of performing Aarti, we light the diya usually Pancha Pradeep (Pancha meaning five, Pradeep meaning light wicks dipped in clarified butter or ghee) When we do this we are seeing the beauty of the Lord in all his glory. All the devotees stand as a sign of respect when the Guruji/ Panditji start performing this and everyone gathered sing and clap. This is associated with the joy that accompanies the vision of the Lord. Aarti is performed with the use of Camphor. Sometimes the wicks of the diya are applied with crushed camphor or the instrument/ vessel that is used to perform the aarti has a place in the centre where the camphor pieces are kept. Camphor burns itself out completely without leaving a trace. It represents our Vasanas or unmanifested desires. So when we were taking refuge in the Lord, to obtain knowledge, these desires will get burnt out. It emits a wonderful fragrance purifying the surrounding environment creating a sense of happiness. We close our eyes while performing the Aarti where we try to look within-Self or Atman. At the end of the Aarti we place our hands over the flame and touch our eyes, top of the head and then chest. It means that may the light that illumined the Lord, light up our vision, and may our thoughts become pure. This is how we take the blessings of the Lord.
